RCIA – Those now fully initiated into the

What is Divine Mercy? The message and devotion
to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska,
an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a
diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God's
mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had
begun to spread.
We now have the key to
understanding the Image of The Divine Mercy with its rays signifying the Blood and
Water that flowed from Christ's pierced side with the inscription (Jesus, I
Trust In You), and to Our Lord's insistence that this image be specially
venerated on the first Sunday after Easter, which is to be celebrated as the
Feast Of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday).
We can also see
these rays as simultaneously symbolizing the Holy Spirit, whom Christ breathed
into the Disciples during the same Octave-day appearance. On the strength of
that Holy Breath, all sins are forgiven and "at-ONE-ment" with the
Father is accomplished. Here, God in Christ is reconciling the world to Himself
(see 2 Cor 5:18). And here the
Church, the newly-born Body of Christ, is commissioned to be the instrument of
reconciliation down through the ages.

FROM THE PASTOR
Dear parishioners,
What wonderful Holy Week and
Easter celebrations we had! I am very grateful to all who participated,
especially to all who helped these to be the beautiful liturgies that they
were. Thanks to those who decorated the church, to all of the musicians,
bell-ringers, singers and cantors, lectors, and everyone responsible for the
planning and ‘doing’ these celebrations. Special thanks go to Don Thibaut for
repairing the statue of Jesus in the tomb. It was nice to display that for Good
Friday this year.
I again wish to congratulate
all those who joined our church at the Easter Vigil. It was a moving ceremony
to be able to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and
Eucharist. May the Lord Jesus continue the good work He has begun in all of
you!
This coming Wednesday, we
invite all the parish to come to an evening Mass in the church at 6:30. It is a Mass for all those who just joined us, and it is
open to any who wish to come. Following the Mass, Julie Bango, who has done
such great work with the RCIA all year long, will give a presentation on being
an active parishioner.

The Diocesan Council of
Catholic Women will sponsor a silent retreat at St. Therese’s Retreat Center 5277 E Broad St., Columbus, April 22-24, 2005. The theme of the
weekend will be “God looks with favor – Women of the Gospel”. The
retreat will focus on five women in the gospels: their struggles, their
blessings, and their roles in carrying the good news to the world. Our retreat
director will be Sister Dianne Kozlowski, OP. Msgr. Ralph Huntzinger will be
our celebrant. The offering for the weekend will be $90.00. A deposit of

St. Mary School
Advisory Board Candidates needed.
A position is coming open for a
three-year term on the St. Mary School Advisory Board, beginning with the
2005-2006 school year. Active membership at St. Mary Parish (German Village) is the only eligibility requirement. The school board
provides input to the pastor and principal on school-related issues. Meetings
are held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in the school. You may nominate yourself or someone else by
