St. Vincent de Paul: This weekend, December 30-31 our St. Vincent de Paul Society will gladly accept your donations after mass. Thank you

Mass Intentions: I am sorry to say that all weekend Masses for 2007 are requested. Actually, this is a good thing. It means that we are remembering our deceased loved ones in prayer through the Mass. There are a few daily Masses remaining, but not many. Canon Law prohibits us from holding Mass stipends for more than a year. I will begin scheduling for January 2008 next month. Thank you, Cindy

FROM FATHER THOMAS:

I want to thank everyone for the many kind cards received at this time of year and wish you all a Happy New Year and God’s blessings in 2007.  All will be remembered in my prayers at mass New Year’s Day.

Thank you to everyone who worked the Christmas tree sale. It was very successful. Thank you to all of our parishioners, school parents, neighbors, family, and friends who purchased trees, wreaths, or roping.

Welcoming Christ in the Migrant

National Migration Week January 7-13, 2007

‘Lord, when did we see you a stranger … and not minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’ (Mt. 25: 44-45)

Our Catholic Teaching: We live in an age when strangers in our midst have become a source of suspicion and fear. However, Jesus’ command for us to welcome these strangers as we would welcome Him is unchanging: we are obliged to welcome the stranger with love, knowing that “perfect love casts out all fear”. (1 John 4:18)
