Young-at-Heart Lenten Project: Collecting toilet tissue and soap products for St. Francis Center, McArthur Ohio. Items may be left in the rear of church. Arrangement for donations of larger items (clothing, household items, etc.) may be made by calling 443-6154 or 443-1032.

St. Mary's semi-annual food drive for our neighbors in south Columbus will be held on February 24-25 and March 3-4. St. Ladislas and Southside Community Ministries need our help. Any basic shelf-life food such as cereal, peanut butter, or canned goods is most welcome. The pantries also need monetary gifts to purchase large quantities of food from Mid Ohio Foodbank ($2.00 will buy 10 cases of corn)! Volunteers will be at the back of church after each mass to accept your donations. We appreciate all offerings!

FINANCIAL REPORT PART THREE: In previous financial reports, Father Thomas indicated we may see a surplus of $26,000 this year to use on much needed repairs in the spring.  On the school front, the Finance Committee advised Father Thomas and Sister Regina regarding tuition rates for next year.  The two of them agreed on a tuition freeze as a way to encourage recruitment and retention of students. 

As further incentives, we will offer school families a $100 discount off of their total tuition bill if the bill is paid completely by June 1, 2007; we will be picking up the $38 registration fee for those who choose to go with our pay as you go plan (FACTS); and the 5% charge for using the pay as you go plan will be dropped. We will be graduating a very large 8^th grade class this year.  So please spread the good news about St. Mary School to friends who have little ones eligible to enter our younger grades.

The three traditional pillars of Lenten observance are prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Prayer: More time given to prayer during Lent should draw us closer to the Lord. Daily Mass, Stations of the Cross, First Friday Eucharistic Adoration, Evening Prayer & rosary are some opportunities for prayer.

Stations of the Cross: Friday at 7:00 p.m. with an opportunity for confession.

Father Thomas, in conjunction with the Southside Vicariate, has approved this devotion to take place in the afternoons at St. Leo to especially accommodate the elderly who would prefer not to come out in the evening.

4-S Club all-you-can-eat fish plus choice of two sides - baked potato, French fries, macaroni and cheese, or cole slaw $9,.  Rolls and butter come with the deal. Steaks MAY be available in lieu of fish (they said "hopefully".)  Fridays of Lent 6pm to 8pm.

Bishop Hartley High School has rescheduled its Winter Open House for Wednesday, March 7. All seventh and eighth graders and their families who are interested in learning more about its school are invited to visit the campus. The program begins promptly at 7 pm. If you have any questions, please call 237-5421.

Gala Committee Expanding: If you are able to help organize the Gala/Dinner/Auction/Dance, you are most welcome at the meeting of the committee at 10:00 next Sunday, (March 4^th) in the gym. Or just leave a message with Father Thomas that you are able to help. The committee is in the process of splitting into sub committees, and most of the planning has been completed. Now comes the execution phase. Remember to mark May 20^th to join in the fun.

Choir: We are sending out an invitation to singers and instrumentalist to join the 9:00 or 11:30 choir during the Lenten season / Easter Services. Registrations are now available for the seventh annual CATHOLIC YOUTH SUMMER CAMP.  Camp is from July 22-27 for high school students (current 8^th - 12^th graders) and July 29 - August 3 for Junior High (current 5^th - 7^th graders) students.  This six-day resident camp features high adventure activities such as jet skis, tubing, horseback riding, canoeing, and mountain biking in a supportive, Catholic environment.  The evening features the band “Fiery Fish,” along with fun games, humorous skits, moving dramas, and inspiring talks around the call of Jesus to “Come Follow Me.”  To get more information or to download a registration go to www.cysc.com, call by phone at 614-451-4290 x 123, or write via email to info@cysc.com
