Young-at-Heart Lenten
Project: Collecting
toilet tissue and soap products for St.FrancisCenter, McArthur, Ohio. Items may be left in
the main entrance of church. Arrangement for donations of larger items
(clothing, household items, etc.) may be made by calling 443-6154 or 443-1032.
St. Mary's semi-annual food drive for our neighbors in south Columbus will be held on March
3-4. St. Ladislas and Southside Community Ministries need our help. Any basic
shelf-life food such as cereal, peanut butter, or canned goods is most welcome.
The pantries also need monetary gifts to purchase large quantities of food from
Mid Ohio Foodbank ($2.00 will buy 10 cases of corn)! Volunteers will be at the
back of church after each mass to accept your donations. We appreciate all
offerings!
Training: We will be having training for all current
extraordinary ministers and all those who would like to be an extraordinary
minister, March 11th at 10:00am. We will go over NEW
procedures and train those who have never served in this ministry before.
We will be updating our database and schedule. If you are unable to
attend, but would still like to be an extraordinary minister please contact
Jason Shanks.

Lenten
abstinence: According to Canon 1252, all Catholics after their 14th
birthday are required to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, Good
Friday, and the Fridays during Lent. Those not required to abstain are
encouraged to engage in some form of penance in the spirit of the season.
Choir: singers and
instrumentalist are invited to join the 9:00 or 11:30 choir during the

the Diocesan Development Program for NFP, United States Conference of Catholic

available for the seventh annual CATHOLIC YOUTH SUMMER CAMP. Camp is from
July 22-27 for high school students (current 8th - 12th
graders) and July 29 - August 3 for Junior High (current 5th - 7th
graders) students. This six-day resident camp features high adventure
activities such as jet skis, tubing, horseback riding, canoeing, and mountain
biking in a supportive, Catholic environment. The evening features the
band “Fiery Fish,” along with fun games, humorous skits, moving dramas, and
inspiring talks around the call of Jesus to “Come Follow Me.” To get more

Gala Committee
Expanding: If you are able to help organize the Gala/Dinner/Auction/Dance,
you are most welcome at the meeting of the committee at 10:00 a.m.this Sunday, (March 4th) in the gym. Or just
leave a message with Father Thomas that you are able to
help. The committee is in the process of splitting into sub committees, and
most of the planning has been completed. Now comes the execution phase.

Diocesan Respect Life
Conference with Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life as the keynote
presenter Saturday, March 10th at St. Michael Church, 5750 N. high
St. The conference begins with Mass at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Fee of
$15 includes continental breakfast and catered lunch. For more information

Collection Counters: We are looking at
changing counting procedures. Soon we will begin counting the collection on
Monday mornings in the Atrium of the BurkleyCenter. All current collection
counters are encouraged to continue counting and new counters are welcome.
