Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15th is a
holy day of obligation. Masses will be celebrated here at 12 noon and 7:00 p.m. Following the 7:00 p.m. Mass we will have a
procession around the block then celebrate our patroness with a dessert reception.
This will also be our thank you reception for all the workers and patrons of
our 82nd Annual Homecoming Festival!
Monday Confessions: There will be a two month suspension
of Monday confessions. They will resume on September 17 immediately after
the noon mass. There will be a reconciliation service Wednesday
evening, August 15th at 6:00 p.m. The service will precede the
mass for the holy day – the Feast of the Assumption.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)will start up with a cookout and
informational meeting on August 29th at 6:30pm on the back patio of the
rectory. If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith
then RCIA is for you. There is no commitment to becoming Catholic, just
come and learn about the faith and make decisions as you go. All St. Mary’s parishioners are encouraged to
begin praying for next year’s class and to invite those you know. You are

High School Students and incoming 7th
and 8th graders of St. Mary– you are invited to a lock in at our school gym on
Saturday, August 18th. Religious activities, social activities, and
games and refreshments will be provided. 7:00 p.m. is the starting time, but folks can
come later at a time determined by their parents. Departure for those staying
overnight will be after the 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning Mass. Others can leave earlier if picked
up by parents between 11:00 and midnight on Saturday. Call Father Thomas to
request a registration form.
St. Gabriel Catholic Radio 1270 AM has moved its offices and studio to 1585 Bethel
Road, Suite 101-LL, Columbus, Ohio43220 to prepare for the planned
expansion of its broadcast signal from 500 watts to 10,000 watts! A major
fundraising campaign is underway to raise $2-million needed for the signal
expansion, which is targeted for May, 2008. Information on donating and

Bishop
Frederick Campbell recently sent a letter to all pastors in the Columbus
Diocese encouraging them to allow St. Gabriel representatives to speak about
the expansion efforts during Mass. St. Gabriel Radio thanks all
pastors who have allowed them to schedule visits, and also thanks all Catholics
who have made donations to date through pledges or on-air sponsorship
underwriting.

Volleyball Signups: We are starting to form girls and
boys volleyball teams for the upcoming school year. Any student entering grade
4 to 8 is eligible to play volleyball as long as they attend St.MarySchool or are members of St. Mary

·Schultuete Presentation – St.MarySchool is continuing an old German
tradition! On Monday, August 27th at 1:15 p.m. in the school gym, each first grade
student will be presented with a Schultuete, a 75 cm tall decorated cone filled
with sweets and supplies. The tradition celebrates the child’s first day of
formal schooling and is meant to “sweeten the beginning” of the long years of
schooling ahead. In addition to our school students, faculty and several local
dignitaries have been invited.
Remember: the newspaper recycling bin has
been removed for the festival. It will return soon, so please save your
recyclable paper products until the end of August!
Expanded Homestead exemption: Effective July
1, 2007
