Monday Confessions: There will be a two month suspension of Monday confessions.  They will resume on September 17 immediately after the noon mass. 

Bible Study:  Mark Your Calendars for Weds, September 5^th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  (Please note change in day)  The Bible Study is in its fifth year studying scripture, and having a blast doing it!  We will begin to study the Gospel of John!  For more information please contact Jason Shanks by calling him in the parish office at 445-9668 or jasonshanks@stmarygv.com.  

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will start up with a cookout and informational meeting on August 29^th at 6:30pm on the back patio of the rectory.  If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, then RCIA is for you.  There is no commitment to becoming Catholic. Just come and learn about the faith and make decisions as you go.  All St. Mary’s parishioners are encouraged to begin praying for next year’s class and to invite those you know.  You are the greatest witness to the faith!  For more information please contact Jason Shanks at jasonshanks@stmarygv.com.

National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)

NCYC is November 8-10 at Nationwide Arena and the Columbus Convention Center.  High School Youth from all over the country will be in Columbus for this conference.  If you would like to attend please get a registration packet at the back of the Church on the parish bulletin board or stop by the office and talk to Jason.  Registration forms are due by August 30, 2007!  So, there is not a lot of time to get your stuff back in.  St. Mary’s will cover half of your conference fees!  Email Jason if you have questions.    

The Catholic Laymen's Retreat League will be sponsoring two men's retreats this Fall at St. Therese's Retreat Center. The silent retreat is Sept. 7-9. Fr. John Bakle is the retreat director and will give conferences on Lessons from Luke. Welcome committee news: We will resume our bi-monthly fellowship dinners with Father Thomas beginning in October, if interested please sign-up on the sheets provided along the north wall of the sanctuary under the pictures of our Holy Father and Bishop Campbell. We are also seeking new members for this ministry, if interested in learning more about the welcome committee, please call Ann Anderson at 445-0715.

Volleyball Signups: We are starting to form girls and boys volleyball teams for the upcoming school year. Any student entering grade 4 to 8 is eligible to play volleyball as long as they attend St. Mary School or are members of St. Mary Church.  The cost to play is $50 or $58 if you need the mesh athletic short that goes with the jersey.  Interested players need to email Mr. David Oddi @ boddi@sbcglobal.net with your name and grade.  Deadline for signups is Friday, August 31. Finally, any high school student that wants to play CYO volleyball, please email Mr. Oddi.

St. Mary School Notes…

·  Classes resume Monday, August 27^th at 7:50 a.m.!

·  Schultuete Presentation – St. Mary School is continuing an old German tradition! On Monday, August 27^th at 1:15 p.m. in the school gym, each first grade student will be presented with a Schultuete, a 75 cm tall decorated cone filled with sweets and supplies. The tradition celebrates the child’s first day of formal schooling and is meant to “sweeten the beginning” of the long years of schooling ahead. In addition to our school students, faculty and several local dignitaries have been invited.

The paper recycling bin is back!
