APPEAL

PLAN
AHEAD
On
October 13, 14 and 15, St. Mary’s will enjoy an evening parish retreat, also
known as a Parish Mission. Father John Collins of the Paulist Fathers will
speak each evening on the theme of events in our lives in which we experience
God. Father Thomas says Father Collins is the best mission preacher he has ever
heard, and he asks that all organizations, committees and clubs clear those
dates so that their members are able to come to the mission talks.
JULY PLANNING SESSIONS
On
July 13, 20 and 27, at 10:00 a.m. all interested parishioners are invited to participate in a parish self
study authored by the diocese. We will take the results of our study to a
meeting with our fellow deanery parishes (St. Mary Groveport, St. Ladislas, Corpus Christi) to propose ideas to the diocese about how these
parishes can best serve the people of our area.
CORPUS CHRISTI SUNDAY
At 12:30 on May 25th, there will be exposition of
the Blessed Sacrament until 3:00.
Exposition will close at 3:00
with Benediction. There are three First Masses of the newly ordained
priests on that day. Please remember the new priests in your prayers, and
pray for all the travelers coming and going to their celebrations.

HAVE WE HEARD FROM YOU YET?
Our campaign in behalf of
tuition assistance and the restoration of our historic buildings has surpassed
$158,000 in pledges toward our goal of $450,000 over three years. Any
pledges now will be returned 100% to meet our two main goals here. Pledge
cards are in the pews and can be filled out and deposited in the collection or
in the box at the main door of church.
CATHOLIC CEMETERIES NEWS
Catholic Cemetery offices will be open on Memorial Day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Also, Mass will be
celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph, Mt. Calvary, and Holy Cross, and at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection cemetery.
CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU
Janet Dawson has become the
new president of our School Advisory Board; Jennifer Smallwood has become vice
president; and Tina Nierman secretary. Thanks to them and to all who
serve on the board. Thanks too to Tom Martello and Brian Collins, the
outgoing officers, and Julie Graham-Price, an outgoing member.
WELCOME
The recent School Advisory
Board elections were so dramatically close that Father Thomas asked board
members to let him use a little pastor prerogative to seat all three
nominees. The board agreed and we welcome Jennifer Hadden, Erin Howell,
and Nicole Robinson to the board.
FINAL SCHOOL MASSES
All are welcome at the final
masses of the school year on TUESDAY, MAY 27TH, AND TUESDAY, JUNE 3RD.
Both masses are at 9:45 a.m. The June 3rd mass is the baccalaureate mass.
CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL
The 2008 Catholic Home
Missions Appeal is scheduled for the weekend of May 31 and June 1, 2008. Catholics
across the United
States
will have the opportunity to support the work of missions here in the United States. Many U.S. dioceses cannot provide basic pastoral ministries
for their people without grants from the Bishops’ Committee on the Home
Missions. Hundreds of poor parishes and
small missions in remote areas across our country depend on the Catholic Home
Missions Appeal to keep their doors open. Please use your special envelopes
designated for Home Missions and drop in the regular collection basket.
