PLAN AHEAD
On
October 13, 14 and 15, St. Mary’s will enjoy an evening parish retreat, also
known as a Parish Mission. Father John Collins of the Paulist Fathers will
speak each evening on the theme of events in our lives in which we experience
God. Father Thomas says Father Collins is the best mission preacher he has ever
heard, and he asks that all organizations, committees and clubs clear those
dates so that their members are able to come to the mission talks.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
DIOCESAN UPDATE RE: ELECTRONIC TRANSFER+-
The Catholic
Diocese of Columbus is in the process of converting to a new computer software program
that manages all gifts made to the Bishop's Annual Appeal, as well as
our Bells of Saint Mary's Legacy Campaign. Due to the conversion, there
has been a delay in processing both electronic fund transfers and payment
reminder statements. Every effort is being made to ensure the accuracy of
your gift. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Electronic
Fund Transfers (EFT) for the month of July will be scheduled for the 5th and/or
the 20th of the month. The payment reminder statements will deliver no later
than July 11th. Any questions
or concerns, please contact the parish office at 614-445-9668. Thank you
for your continued support to our parish family.
A THANK YOU NOTE FROM FATHER EDWIN
Dear
Generous and Loving People in the Parish of St. Mary’s,
Sadness always creeps into my heart every time I go. But I
guess I have to learn to live as a constant paradox to the rest of humankind.
“Ours is the pain of constantly pitching our tent and folding it up again, of
befriending strangers and bidding them goodbye, of loving the world but
never truly being satisfied with it, of pouring our heart and soul into a
project others have begun and still others will finish”.
In such a case, I believe that we need to make the most of
occasions when we gather by the roadside to break bread together and compare
directions. “Joy must be discovered in the going as we never really
arrive, not even in a lifetime”.
For your warm hospitality and friendship to me-a stranger to
this beautiful and peaceful place; for your generosity to the poor and the
needy in our diocese; and for your selfless love -- I thank God for you, and
when I pray for you -- I pray with joy!
With
gratitude and prayers,
Rev. Fr.
