R.C.I.C.—Rite of Christian Initiation of Children will be started this fall. This program is for children who have not received the Sacraments of Baptism or First Communion.  It is also for children who are not Catholic, but would like to be so. We are in need of one or two dedicated instructors. Please call Jason at 445-9668 for more information or if you are willing to serve as an instructor for this important ministry.

REMINDERS AND UPDATES

 

DIOCESAN UPDATE RE: ELECTRONIC TRANSFER+-

The Catholic Diocese of Columbus is in the process of converting to a new computer software program that manages all gifts made to the Bishop's Annual Appeal, as well as our Bells of Saint Mary's Legacy Campaign.  Due to the conversion, there has been a delay in processing both electronic fund transfers and payment reminder statements. Every effort is being made to ensure the accuracy of your gift. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) for the month of July will be scheduled for the 5th and/or the 20th of the month. The payment reminder statements will deliver no later than July 11th.  Any questions or concerns, please contact the parish office at 614-445-9668.  Thank you for your continued support to our parish family.

 

Women's leadership workshop

The Columbus Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will sponsor a Leadership Workshop at the Catholic Center, 197 E. Gay St., Columbus on July 12, 2008 from 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m.  Included will be a Continental Breakfast & box lunch. COME LEARN NEW IDEAS! Materials will be provided.  The workshop fee is $10.00. UPDATE                                                                           

Our three year Bells of St. Mary’s Legacy Campaign has generated pledges in access of $120,000.00 for 2008. We are getting close to our 2008 goal of $150,000.00. The total pledged toward the three year goal is $250,000.00. Thanks to all who have responded so far. The contract for the tower repair has been sent to the diocese for review, and we are awaiting permission to proceed. If you want to make a pledge, please take a brochure from the back of church. The brochure contains a pledge card and a return envelope.

CATHOLIC WOMAN/YOUNG CATHOLIC WOMAN OF THE YEAR

Please mark your calendars now for The Annual Catholic Woman/Young Catholic Woman of the Year for 2008 Awards Banquet to be held on Sunday August 24, 2008 at Berwick Manor Restaurant & Party House 3250 Refugee Road, Columbus at 5 p.m.  Nomination forms for The Catholic Woman of the Year or Young Catholic Woman of the Year (ages 16-30) are available in your parish office or online at www.dccw.colsdioc.org.  These nominations are for special women who, out of love for God and all God’s people, give unselfishly to Family, Parish and Community.  When writing a nomination, be sure to list and describe any specific qualifications of the nominee that addresses these areas.  Your remarks should be as descriptive as possible, using a maximum of 500 words. (It’s not how much you write - but WHAT you write.) WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS?

Next Sunday, July 13, will be the first of three discussions about the future needs of our parish and the diocese.  The first discussion will focus on the sacramental or spiritual needs of the parish/diocese.  Father Thomas will meet with all interested persons in a corner of the gym after they have had a chance to get a cup of coffee or glass of juice at around 10:00am.
