RCIA / ADULT FAITH FORMATION
The class
topic for this week is “Bible Basics” by Jason Shanks. All those in the
parish who are interested in learning some of the basics of scripture and why
it is a document that is reliable, please feel free to come. You don’t
have to be investigating Catholicism to attend and grow in your knowledge of
our faith. The class meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Burkley Atrium.
Access through the backdoor off of the parking lot.
R.C.I.C. (Rite of
Christian Initiation of Children)
Meetings are held each Sunday beginning Sept. 21, 2008 starting at 10:00 a.m. in the school gymnasium.
Sessions will last approximately 1 hour. This program is for children who have
not received the Sacraments of Baptism or First Communion. It is also for
children who are not Catholic, but would like to be so.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
The
Sacrament of Penance will be celebrated here on Saturdays from 3:00 to 3:30
except for October 11th. The Sacrament will be celebrated on
Mondays immediately after the noon mass except for October 13th.

Father Jack Collins was ordained to the Paulist
Fathers in 1970. For years, he was pastor of the Newman Center Parish at
Ohio State. Since then, he has given over three hundred parish missions
all over the country. He is a wonderful and enjoyable speaker.
Father Thomas feels he is one of the best speakers on spiritual matters he has
ever heard.

begins Wednesday, September 24, as Ralph McInerny, Ph.D., presents “Newman and

Speaker Presentation on "The Church"
Monday, September 22nd at 7 p.m. Mr. Paul Pennino of St. Brendan will give a presentation
on the differences between the Catholic view of One Holy Catholic Church and
the Protestant view of 'a loose affiliation of like-minded believers'. The

RESPECT
October 5th
is Respect Life Sunday. There will be Stations of the Cross for Life
prayer here at 10:30 that day. It is hoped that 9:00 a.m. worshippers can
return after refreshments to participate and that 11:30 a.m. worshippers can
come early at 10:30.

S.M.A.C. BOOK CLUB
The
next 20-30something book club discussion will be held on Sunday, October
5th at 12:30pm following the 11:30 Mass. Please meet in front of the Specht
Building located on the north end of the Parish parking lot adjacent to the
bank. Once gathered we will relocate to a local restaurant or café for coffee
and/or lunch. We will be discussing a different book each month. October’s Book
Club selection is "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis. This will be a
great opportunity to meet other young adults while having some great

200th Anniversary of the First
Mass in the State of Ohio
On Sunday,
September 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM, Bishop Campbell will celebrate a Mass to
commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the First Mass in the State of
Ohio. The historic celebration will be
held on the original grounds where the first Mass took place in 1808. You are
cordially invited to join us for the anniversary Mass, a memorial dedication and
a reception to be held at 5000 Stage Coach Road NW just outside of Somerset,
Ohio. From the Somerset square, head west on Route 22 for two miles, turn left

The St. Charles Preparatory School Drama
Department will hold women’s auditions for its fall production of the new
musical, Striking 12 and It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play on
Wednesday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 27th

A silent retreat will be held the weekend of
October, 3-5, 2008 at St. Therese’s Retreat Center. It is open to all Catholic
