topic for this week is “Prayer” presented by Mike Keebaugh and Tara Orban. You don’t have to be investigating
Catholicism to attend and grow in your knowledge of our faith. The class

SERVICE SATURDAY 2008 – OPEN TO
EVERYONE
St. Mary’s
20/30 Somethings (SMAC) in partnership with Catholic Social Services is hosting
Service Saturday 2008, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00
p.m. In conjunction with Ohio’s Make a Difference Day,
volunteers will help with various projects in our neighborhood for our senior
citizens. We will meet at St. Mary’s at 9 a.m. for brief instructions,
assignments and of course coffee and juice. Lunch will be provided! Can’t
volunteer? Tax deductible gifts to St. Mary’s (indicate Service
Saturday in the memo line) can help provide tools and materials for the
job sites. Sign up on the sheets located in the back of the Church under
the picture of Pope Benedict or email/call Jason in the parish office.
JESUS JAMS
Middle school and high school youth and parents are invited
to the first Jesus Jam of the 08-09 school year to be held on Sunday, Oct. 19th from 5:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Road. This event is

CATHOLIC CEMETARIES
Offices at St. Joseph, Resurrection and Holy Cross
Cemeteries will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 12, 19 and
26. Family service advisors will be available to help with pre-arrangements. Cemetery Sunday Prayer Services will be
held at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 2nd at St. Joseph, Resurrection, Holy
Cross and Mt. Calvary Cemeteries.
BIBLE STUDY RESUMES
Bible study sessions will resume on Wed. October 22nd
at 6:00 p.m. in the Specht Center. If
you haven’t taken advantage of this opportunity to study the “word of the Lord”
in the past please consider this an open invitation to join us as we begin the
study of the book of Romans.

This presentation
will be targeted to the needs and concerns of Catholic families. It
will be delivered by nationally known attorney and author Conrad Teitell. He
will address the reasons families tend to fail to plan, and help Catholics who
may not have a strong financial background see that estate planning can play an
important role in conveying to their heirs not just their assets, but their
values and beliefs. The event is free of charge and open to anyone

have heard, next month we elect our new president. This choice will be made on
the basis of not only what we see and hear, but also what our Faith tells us.
The decisions we make, even in off election years, should be well-informed.

Political Responsibility: Not Just Every 4 Years. We will be joined by
Jerry Freewalt of the Office of Social Concerns for the Diocese. Admission is

BOOK CLUB -- All Adults Welcome!

Book Club - sponsored by S.M.A.C. but open to Adults of ALL ages - is held
on the first Sunday of every month at 10:00 a.m. between the 9:00 and 11:30 Masses. There
will be a different book selection each month. Please meet at the St. Mary
School Cafeteria for "Coffee & Donuts" and book Club
discussion. November's Book Club Selection is "Mariette in

internationally acclaimed author, Brian Jacques. This event is open to the

and join your friends for a fun night and good times on Oct. 25th from
5:00-8:00 in the school gymnasium to support this most worthy cause.

On October 31st one of our long
time parishioners, Catherine Allen, will celebrate her 99th
birthday. Wouldn’t it wonderful if we could bring surprise and joy to her with
99 birthday cards!!
