RCIA / ADULT FAITH FORMATION

The class topic for this week is “Prayer” presented by Mike Keebaugh and Tara Orban.  You don’t have to be investigating Catholicism to attend and grow in your knowledge of our faith.  The class meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Burkley Atrium.  Access through the backdoor off of the parking lot.

FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP

SERVICE SATURDAY 2008 – OPEN TO EVERYONE

St. Mary’s 20/30 Somethings (SMAC) in partnership with Catholic Social Services is hosting Service Saturday 2008, October 25^th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.   In conjunction with Ohio’s Make a Difference Day, volunteers will help with various projects in our neighborhood for our senior citizens.  We will meet at St. Mary’s at 9 a.m. for brief instructions, assignments and of course coffee and juice. Lunch will be provided! Can’t volunteer?  Tax deductible gifts to St. Mary’s (indicate Service Saturday in the memo line) can help provide tools and materials for the job sites.  Sign up on the sheets located in the back of the Church under the picture of Pope Benedict or email/call Jason in the parish office. 

 

JESUS JAMS

Middle school and high school youth and parents are invited to the first Jesus Jam of the 08-09 school year to be held on Sunday, Oct. 19^th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. CATHOLIC CEMETARIES

Offices at St. Joseph, Resurrection and Holy Cross Cemeteries will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 12, 19 and 26. Family service advisors will be available to help with pre-arrangements. Cemetery Sunday Prayer Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 2^nd at St. Joseph, Resurrection, Holy Cross and Mt. Calvary Cemeteries.

 

BIBLE STUDY RESUMES

Bible study sessions will resume on Wed. October 22^nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Specht Center.  If you haven’t taken advantage of this opportunity to study the “word of the Lord” in the past please consider this an open invitation to join us as we begin the study of the book of Romans.

 

YOUTH GROUP NEWS

The group will have a cookout on October 26^th at 2:00 p.m. and then go to Circle S Farms for a hayride.

We will again have seminarians assigned to St. Mary by the Pontifical College Josephinum that will take Holy Communion to homebound parishioners.  If you know of anyone that should be included on this list please contact the parish office at 445-9668.

CATHOLIC FOUNDATION

Join The Catholic Foundation Thursday evening, November 13^th, at St. Agatha Parish at 7:00 p.m., for Passionate Estate Planning…for yourself, your family, and the Church.

THEOGOGY AND A PUB

As you have heard, next month we elect our new president. This choice will be made on the basis of not only what we see and hear, but also what our Faith tells us. The decisions we make, even in off election years, should be well-informed. Thus, join us at Gresso's on Oct. 21^st for Social Concerns and Political Responsibility: Not Just Every 4 Years. We will be joined by Jerry Freewalt of the Office of Social Concerns for the Diocese. Admission is free and the talk starts at 7:30pm. We hope to see you there.

 

BOOK CLUB -- All Adults Welcome!

The Book Club - sponsored by S.M.A.C. but open to Adults of ALL ages - is held on the first Sunday of every month at 10:00 a.m. between the 9:00 and 11:30 Masses. There will be a different book selection each month. Please meet at the St. Mary School Cafeteria for "Coffee & Donuts" and book Club discussion.  November's Book Club Selection is "Mariette in Ecstasy" By Ron Hansen. On October 31^st one of our long time parishioners, Catherine Allen, will celebrate her 99^th birthday. Wouldn’t it wonderful if we could bring surprise and joy to her with 99 birthday cards!!

If you would like to share your good wishes with Catherine please address a birthday card in her name and drop it into the collection basket or bring it to the office. Cards will be delivered to Catherine on Oct. 30^th.
