RCIA / ADULT FAITH FORMATION

The class topic for this week is “The Saints” presented by Father Thomas. You don’t have to be investigating Catholicism to attend and grow in your knowledge of our faith.  The class meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Burkley Atrium. Enter through the backdoor off of the parking lot.     

 

DIOCESAN MASS for THOSE WHO GREIVE……the death of a loved one, divorce, separation, illness, or unemployment will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9^th at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E. Broad Street; Father Michael Gribble presiding.

 

BIBLE STUDY

Bible study has resumed their weekly meetings with the study of the book of Romans. Meetings are held in the Specht Center each Wed. at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome.

CATHOLIC CEMETARIES SUNDAY PRAYER SERVICES….will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 2^nd at St. Joseph, Resurrection, Holy Cross and Mt. Calvary Cemeteries.

 

ENJOY FELLOWSHIP WITH OUR CHOIRS

Our choirs will be having a light supper at 6:00 in the rectory on Wednesday, November 5^th.  Please stop in to say hello, and join them for the meal.  If you have questions about rehearsal for Christmas masses, this would be a great time to get information   No need to bring anything. Spouses are welcome.

 

YOUTH GROUP MEETINGS ON SUNDAYS

The Youth Group (students in grades 7 through 12)   will meet November 2, 9, 16 and 23 at 7:00 in the parish office building.  The 2^nd will be a planning meeting.  The other three Sundays we will have a brief film, some discussion, and refreshments.  Father Thomas needs a substitute chaperone on November 16

 

PLAN AHEAD FOR GOOD MUSIC

December 7^th at 2:00 p.m. the annual Maennerchor Concert.

December 7^th from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. enjoy the annual Village Lights outside and a hand bell concert here.

December 13^th at 7:00 p.m., the Village Singers perform at the Meeting Haus.

December 21^st - Confessions in Polish at 2:00 p.m.; Mass in Polish at 3:00 p.m., and a violin and piano concert at 4:00 p.m.

 

 

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

The Ladies Hybernians will hold their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 15^th from 8:00 a.m. until

3:00 p.m. in the St. Mary school gymnasium.

 

 

 

TOUR ITALY --- ITALIAN TREASURES

This once in a lifetime trip is schedule for Oct. 1 – 12, 2009.

Plans include stops in Rome, Venice, Assisi, Siena, Florence, and several other locations.

NEWS FROM ST. LEO

November 20^th at 6:00 p.m.  Father Stash Dailey, a newly ordained priest this year, will be celebrating a mass in honor of the dead of St. Leo Parish and for all of our loved ones.   

December 5^th at 8:00p.m. - St. Leo Church - The Magpie Christmas Concert - A concert of traditional Advent and winter songs from all over Europe.  The music tells the Christmas story.

 

CATHOLIC MEN’S LUNCHEON CLUB

Please join a strong tradition at CMLC to hear the testimony of a newly ordained priest to the Columbus Diocese. Fr. Stash Dailey, a lifelong Columbus resident, will walk you through his calling that began in the 2^nd grade and more importantly his perspective now in serving his vocation as a priest. This event is scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2008 at St. Patrick Church, Columbus, Ohio.
Mass will begin at 11:45 a.m. followed by lunch and Fr. Dailey’s presentation.  Reservations are not required. 
Cost is $10 for Adults and $5 for Students to cover the lunch and meeting
**To abstain from meat on all Fridays of the year, only a vegetarian lunch will be provided**

 

S.M.A.C. SOCIAL at PLANKS

Mark your calendar for Nov. 6^th at 7:00 p.m. and plan to join other 20-30somethings for an evening out at Planks on Parsons Ave (corner Sycamore and Parsons). Come socialize and meet new people while enjoying great pizza, appetizers and drinks! Singles and couples are more than welcome to attend – the more the merrier! Admission is free and all food/drinks will be available for purchase. SERVICE SATURDAY—A HUGE SUCCESS!

Thank you to all who gave their time and talent this past weekend helping repair homes in our community.  A special thanks to S.M.A.C., our 20/30somethings group, who worked hard behind the scenes to make this a success.  We had over 75 volunteers, more than we have ever had!  We worked at over 30 houses doing many projects at each.  We are planning on doing another Service Saturday in the spring and increasing the scope and depth of the projects.  To get involved in the planning please contact Jason Shanks at jasonshanks@stmarygv.com.

NEWS FROM BISHOP READY

Our fall theatre production, Thorton Wilder’s Our Town, will be presented on Nov. 7^th at 7:00 p.m., Nov. 8^th at 2:00 p.m. and Nov. 9^th at 2:00 & 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, and $6.00 for students.

The annual GRAND KNIGHT celebration is scheduled for Nov. 14^th at 7:30 p.m. You must be 21 to attend. Cost is $65.00, which admits two adults and includes entry into the reverse raffle for $5,000.00.
