God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust” written by Immaculee Ilibagiza. The Author
will be the main speaker at this year’s Catholic Women’s Conference. Immaculee
Ilibagiza is an internationally known speaker and Rwandan holocaust survivor.
We will meet at 10:00 a.m. between the 9:00 and 11:30 Masses in the St. Mary School Cafeteria for
"Coffee & Donuts" and Book Club discussion. Please have the
entire book read so we don't spoil anything for you. For more information

ANNUAL DIOCESAN RESPECT LIFE CONFERENCE…will be held at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Road, on Saturday,
February 14, 2009. The day starts at 8:30 a.m. with Mass and will end at 3:00 p.m. with the Rosary. Fr. Tom Euteneuer,
President of Human Life International, will lead the conference, and Dr. Brian
Clowes will be the guest speaker. The registration fee is $15.00. To register,

ADULT RETREAT…a first ever retreat
exclusively for young adults is being held March 21st here at St.
Mary’s! The theme of the day is “I’m
Sorry, I forgive you, Thank you, I love you.”
Father Josh Wagner is the retreat master of the day. Cost is $40.00 which includes lunch and food

KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS BLOOD DRIVE
A blood drive is scheduled for Sun., Feb. 22nd at
the Shamrock Club from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To be eligible you cannot have
donated blood after Dec. 26, 2008. There are still a few time
slots open and if you would like to sign up please contact Mike McConahay at
443-0046 (H) or 354-5742 (C). Please check your schedule and try to give a
little bit of your time (and blood) to help the Red Cross. The Shamrock
Club is located on W. Castle St. just off of High St. south of 104.

HIGH SCHOOL HAPPENINGS
St. Charles Spaghetti Dinner on Feb. 22….Don’t miss this year’s St. Charles
Spaghetti Dinner on Sun. Feb. 22nd from noon until 7 p.m. in the Robert C.
Walter Student
Commons. This annual event is hosted by the St. Charles Alumni
Association with the expert assistance of Berwick Party House. Guests will
enjoy a bountiful meal of spaghetti with meatball, salad, rolls, ice cream, and
a beverage. Cost is $7 for adults; $6 for senior citizens; $4 for children
4-12; Carry out orders will also be available.
Bishop Hartley High
School extends a
warm invitation to 8th graders and their parents to attend its Winter Open House
on Thursday, Feb.12th from 7 - 8:30

the school and visit with the principal, academic department chairs, guidance
counselors, and the athletic director.

THEOLOGY and a PUB
"Vocations...We
pray for them”. We rejoice when a young man makes the commitment for
priesthood, and we celebrate their ordination a few years later, but what
happens in between? Join Theology and a Pub on Feb.17th at Gresso's
at 7:30 p.m. as Father Jeff Coning from the Vocations Office and guests
from the Pontifical College Josephinum tell us "The Story of a Vocation."
Gresso's is located in German Village. Doors open at 6 p.m. and food and drink are available for

ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH
All proceeds of the Ash Wednesday collection will be
contributed to JOIN (Joint Organization for Inner-city Needs), which operates
under Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Columbus. JOIN provides emergency
assistance to the poor and vulnerable of Franklin and surrounding counties. Please use
the specially printed collection envelopes to make your donation.
In addition, the diocesan Office for Social Concerns
is sponsoring a canned food drive at the start of Lent. Please bring your
donation of food to Ash Wednesday service. All donated food will be delivered
to the food bank that serves the local food pantries.
ASH WEDNESDAY MASSES….will be celebrated at St. Mary at 9:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The noon Mass will be celebrated at
St. Leo Church.
SECURITY UPDATES
Because of a
grant from the Catholic Foundation and a donation by Alarm Solutions we have
added needed security to the church and Burkley Center. You may notice motion sensors
located in doors and windows. Included with these upgrades we added a camera to
the choir loft. This will make the church visible to us via the
computer. We believe this will allow us to leave the church unlocked
while also protecting the treasurers of St. Mary’s.
As a service
to our parents, we decided to put a monitor by the restrooms. There are
times when parents with young children gather in this space while settling
their children, this monitor
will allow you to continue your participation in the mass.
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
The next
youth group meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on February 15th in the
Atrium.
