YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
Bingo Coordinator, Dick Hilsheimer is having shoulder
surgery on his injured rotator cup. Because of this, his mobility in
setting up bingo on Sundays is limited. We are in urgent need of
someone to help Dick on Sunday afternoons set up for bingo. He will still
be there, but needs someone who can be his arms in getting bingo set up while
his shoulder heals. Once set up is complete you are free to leave. If you are available to do this please call
Jason Shanks in the parish office at 445-9668. Please do not assume that
someone else will step up. Bingo revenue has really picked up over the last
year and we need to keep this important fundraiser going. Your help is
needed and appreciated! There is NO smoking in the gym, so you will not
have that to worry about.
STUDY COMMITTEE NEEDED
Father
Thomas would like to hear from anyone interested in studying whether we can
form a Cub Scout group here. We have some statistics to help guide us in
determining whether or not this is a workable idea.

Wednesday of each month. Parking is strictly

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
The
following students from our parish made the 3rd quarter honor roll
at Bishop Hartley: Erin E. Collins,
Jessica Cooper, John Lamotte, Aliyah McConahay, and Anne Minner. We acknowledge
this achievement and congratulate them.
MARRIAGE & FAMILY
As
William J. Doherty, Ph.D. reminds us in his book, Take Back Your
Kids/Confident Parenting in Turbulent Times, we know that exposure to
television violence increases children’s aggression, and that exposure to TV
commercials increases children’s desires for consumer goods. We know that the
more TV children watch, the less physically fit they are and the lower their
reading scores. Television invades family time, especially dinner. Competition
for the TV is a big source of conflict between siblings. Take part this year in
TV Turnoff Week April 20-26, and notice the positive difference it makes
at home. For printable resources on ideas of ways to “unplug and turn on,”
visit the Marriage and Family Life Office’s webpage at www.FamilyLife.colsdioc.org, and click on “Family Enrichment
Resources” or visit www.ScreenTime.org

COMING UP SOON
The Bishop’s
Annual Appeal will take place in May. We are ahead of the appeal here because
we ran a three year version of the appeal last year. We will be asking
those who have not made a three year pledge to the BAA to make a one or two
year pledge. The good news is that our three year pledges have already
got us past our BAA goal for this year. So, new pledge money will all
stay right here at St. Mary’s for the ongoing care of our historic buildings
and for scholarships to our grade school based on financial need. The
diocese will soon mail a description of this year’s appeal to all our
households.
