OCTOBER
is RESPECT
The Catholic Church has long held October to be the
month in which we prayerfully celebrate our firm belief that all human life is
sacred. The diocesan Marriage and Family Life Office reminds you that, as Pope
John Paul II wrote in his 1995 Encyclical “The Gospel of Life”: The family proclaims life when parents teach
children to communicate openly, to value all life and to fulfill their
God-given mission.
The family celebrates
life through prayer, thanking God for the gift of life and for each other.
The family serves
life by promoting the welfare and well-being of its own members and the members
of the greater “family of life.”
Lord and giver of all life, help us to value each
person, created in love by you. In your mercy, guide and assist our efforts to
promote the dignity and value of all human life, born and unborn. We ask this
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
THANK YOU
Your generous contributions resulted in a total of
$2,256.08 for the Comboni Missionaries.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
St. Mary will again partner with
Catholic Social Services in reaching out to serve the disabled and older adults
of our community with projects around their home. The annual Make a Difference Day will be held on Saturday,
Oct. 24th. We will gather at St. Mary at 9:00 a.m. Last year we
had an outstanding turn out for this effort and were able to accomplish such
projects as raking leaves, repairing gutters, washing windows, painting, and
installing handrails for personal safety. Make a Difference Day is the largest
national day set aside for helping others. We need your help again this year,
please sign up on the sheet located under the pictures of Pope Benedict and
Bishop Campbell. For additional information please contact Jason Shanks at
445.9668 or email jasonshanks@stmarygv.com
