LIFETIME: EXPLORE DOMINICAN
ATTENTION
BOYS
THERE’S an APP (APPLICATION) for THAT Did you know that there are
applications for the missal, rosary, stations of the cross, Compendium of the
Catholic Church, Catholic prayers, etc.? If you see people in Mass on
their IPHONE, don’t think they are text messaging, they are most likely reading
the readings of the day and following along with the prayers of the Mass right
there on their phone or IPOD.
PARKING REMINDER
Please note that parishioners need to use the
turnaround out front of the Burkley Center for access to the elevator.
Please be mindful of our elderly and handicapped and do NOT park in the turnaround when you come to Mass.
The weekend of Nov
7th & 8th will be the annual Food Pantry
collection for Southside Community Ministries Food Pantry located on E. Gates
St. For many years St. Mary’s has been an active supporter of this food pantry,
and as you can imagine, this year the need is greater than ever! Any donation
of money, food (especially needed are the following items: instant dressing,
instant potatoes, gravy) and/or gently used children’s books will be greatly
appreciated by those in need. Baskets will be located in the back of the church
beginning next weekend, Oct. 31st and
Nov. 1st for your donation of food and books. During the weekend
of Nov 7th and 8th
there will be volunteers accepting monetary donations at the back of the
church. Thank you for helping us to
help others.
ADVENT MORNING OF REFLECTION
The Church teaches that all Christians, in
any state or walk of life, are called to holiness. But what does holiness look
like in this time and place? How do we find the paths to holiness that are
well-suited to the particular contexts of our daily lives? Come away for a
spell to reflect on these important questions as a means of preparing for the
coming of Christ anew in our hearts this Advent season. This reflection period
is scheduled for Fri., Dec. 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s
Bryce Eck Activity Center. The facilitator is Fr. Timothy Hayes, pastor of St. Timothy. The cost is
$10.oo, which includes lunch. Registration is due to the Office of
Ministry Formation (197 E. Gay St., Columbus, OH 43215) by Monday,
Nov. 30, 2009. For more information, contact Jean Morris,
admn. assistant at 614-241-2544 or jmorris@colsdioc.org. An online printable registration form is
available on the Office of Ministry Formation website: www.colsdioc.org.
